1850, the beginnings

The estate’s history started in 1840.

Blue granite south facing vineyards gave the raw material

for magnificent fruity and generous Gamay wines.

1950

Jean and Marie-Thérèse Lafont were the ones doing the entirety of the vine tending work.

1980

Their son, Jean-Marc, joined them on the estate. His childhood was steeped in scents and fragrances as well as love for a job well done, taught to him by his parents.

1986, the modern era

Annick and Jean-Marc took over stewardship of the estate and reinforced their aim to tend the vines to craft top notch wines, while developing a strong brand image.

1992, integrated, eco-friendly vine tending
with ever more respect for their terroirs.

With passion and determination, they broke with the region’s mainstream methods and, from 1992, formalised their use of integrated, eco-friendly vine tending techniques, always aiming to strengthen their respect for their terroirs.

They equipped themselves with modern, high performance tools to fulfil their ambition: to offer wines that are faithful representations of each terroir the grapes come from.

With a goodly number of awards and praise from the best well-known wine critics, wines by Domaine de Bel-Air are now being sold in over 50 countries.

What really makes us happy is that our wines are synonymous
with sharing with friends and family and today,
make up an integral part of daily life.
